When I open my eyes, I half expect Dominic to be a figment of my imagination. Last night we did things I only dreamt could happen. I know he hadnât been drinking, he seemed to really understand what he was doing, and he was into it. But now itâs morning, and who knows how heâs going to react.
I roll over to see him lying next to me, but heâs not asleep. His eyes are open and heâs watching me.
âHow long have you been awake?â I ask.
âOnly about five minutes. I wasnât ready to get up yet.â
âWhy is that?â
âThis is comfortable.â He smiles. âI like waking up next to you, Zach.â
âCool. Yeah, I like waking up next to you too.â Understatement.
âIs that true?â He rises up on his elbow, balancing his head in his palm. âBecause you look nervous as fuck right now.â
âNot gonna lie. Iâm nervous.â
âBecause you think Iâm going to freak out still, right?â
âYep.â
âWell, I hate to disappoint you, buddy, but Iâm not freaking out. In fact, I was thinking about taking a shower and asking you to join me.â
Something inside of me bursts open, like a suitcase packed too full and tossed carelessly onto the baggage claim, contents spilling out everywhere. Itâs all I can do to fight back the words threatening to pour out of me.
I love you. I want to wake up next to you every day. I want all these hopes and dreams that I never thought were possible, and fuck yes, I want to take a shower with you.
Instead, I smile. âLetâs go take a shower then.â
âSweet,â Dominic says, sliding out of bed.
As he walks across my bedroom to my en-suite bathroom, my eyes follow him, ogling the muscles in his ass and the backs of his thighs. Those things are thick like tree trunks. Dominic used to complain about his body type when we were younger. He was always stockier than he wanted to be, but he has no idea that heâs actually perfect just like he is. Like the saying goes, just like a fine wine, he only gets better with time.
I force myself out of bed and into the bathroom with him just as he finishes peeing. He turns and glances at me.
âIâm going to grab my toothbrush and be right back.â
âGot it.â
I walk over to the sink to brush my own teeth, thinking about what happened last night. It was so cute how he was worried that he wasnât prepped enough. I guess if we decide to go further with this, weâll have to talk about that, or maybe heâll just do what most of us do and go online to figure it out. I could always tell him what my routine is.
A surprised bubble of laughter escapes me. I never once thought that I would be talking or thinking about these things with Dominic. Sure, over the years weâve had sex discussions, but they were very high level. I didnât want to know the specifics of what he did with women any more than he seemed to want to know what I did with men.
